Eric Dier: Tottenham defender's journey from Cheltenham to Sporting
From Sporting to Tottenham
Eric Dier represented Sporting Lisbon from 2003 to 2014, with a brief loan spell at Everton in 2011-12. In the summer of 2014, he signed for Tottenham Hotspur for a fee of £4 million.
Return to Lisbon
Dier has expressed his desire to one day return to Portugal and rekindle his love affair with Sporting. He said: "I have a lot of love for Sporting. I grew up there and it's always been a special club for me. I would love to go back there one day and play for them again."
England international
Dier has also represented England at international level, making his debut in 2015. He has since gone on to make over 40 appearances for his country and was part of the squad that reached the semi-finals of the 2018 World Cup.
