The Los Angeles Angels and Mike Trout have finalized a record-setting 12-year contract, the team announced on Wednesday night. The deal is for a reported $426.5 million, making it the richest contract in Major League Baseball history.

Trout, 32, is one of the most decorated players in baseball, having won three American League MVP awards, eight Silver Sluggers, and nine All-Star selections. He is also the Angels' all-time leader in home runs, RBIs, and stolen bases.

"Mike is the face of our franchise and one of the greatest players in baseball history," Angels owner Arte Moreno said in a statement. "We are thrilled to have him under contract for the next 12 years."

Trout said he is excited to remain with the Angels for the rest of his career. "I love playing in Anaheim and I'm committed to winning a World Series here," Trout said.

The Angels have been trying to sign Trout to a long-term contract for several years. The team previously offered him a 10-year, $360 million deal, but Trout turned it down.

With the new contract, Trout will earn an average of $35.5 million per year. He will also receive a full no-trade clause and a signing bonus of $20 million.

The Angels are hoping that Trout can lead them to their first World Series title since 2002. The team has not won a playoff series since 2009.

Trout's new contract is a sign that the Angels are committed to winning. The team has spent heavily on free agents in recent years, and they are now hoping that Trout can help them get over the hump and win a World Series.
